Workarea Developer Documentation
Workarea Developer Documentation Redesign
Overview
Workarea is an open-source, enterprise-grade commerce platform. I redesigned the Workarea developer documentation website that acted as a resource for members of the Workarea community.
Project Goal
The goal of this project was to create an easy to navigate content library of resources for developers building on the Workarea platform.
My Role
I worked closely with members of the Workarea product team and marketing team, to ensure we created a streamlined user experience that better matched our brand guidelines, and met our user’s needs.
Solution
Based on user feedback, we identified three key categories of content: Getting started, Architecture, and Implementation. These three categories were prominently featured as tiles on the homepage, to allow users to filter down to relevant content.
In addition, we created a main navigation at the top of the site that included valuable highly-visited navigation menu items including release notes, API, Plugins, Hosting, and Forums. The information architecture of the website organized pages of content into clearly labeled categories that ranged from application architecture to platform policies.
Due to long page length, we added a “Skip to” feature, that allowed users to skip to sections of content farther down the page without having to scroll.
We clearly identified version numbers and release notes in the main navigation to keep developer’s up to date on new features.
We included a search bar at the top of the page to allow easy access to search through a large quantity of information. User’s could filter down content with our clearly labeled content categories, or by using the search bar.
We applied new brand styles including fonts, colors, and iconography.
